Dancing is moving to music. One may dance alone, with a partner, or in a group – to the sounds and rhythms of (individual or any combination of) instruments, vocal lyrics, and/or beat/pulse.
Dancing creates a relationship with the music, with oneself, with others, and with the environment/space surrounding us.
To dance well is to make each movement with and because of the music of the moment – moving in sync or harmony with what is heard and/or felt. The music always precedes and directs movement and expression – moving the dancer both physically and emotionally.
There is a difference between social dancing and performing.
